MCC Island - Sky Battle

You better have your wits about you or you’ll plunge to the island below in Sky Battle!

It’s Sky Block meets Battle Royale.

One of our 4 launch games, Sky Battle has had a bit of an update for Island. Rather than 10 teams fighting it out, 8 teams of 4 spawn on different spawn islands spaced equally apart from the centre. Players have to survive one 5-minute round for as long as possible, fighting off the other players while racing against an ever-shrinking border.

Sky Battle Lobby

But the teams aren’t the only change we’ve made to Sky Battle.

In this version of the game, Players no longer need to craft the tools, weapons and armour necessary to survive. Instead, items can be found in loot chests throughout the map, each with different loot rarities.

Everyone starts the game with a stone sword and a bow with two arrows, as well as blocks and a pickaxe to build with. Everything else? They’re found in randomly-generated, colour-coded loot chests.

These chests come in 5 different tiers:

Tier 0 (Vanilla) - Starter chest (Only at spawn points)
Tier 1 (Lime) - General loot (Common around the map)
Tier 2 (Aqua) - Better loot (Rarer but still plentiful around the map)
Tier 3 (Purple) - Good team loot (Only 2 per map - enough for the entire team)
Tier 4 (Golden) - Best loot for 1-2 players (Only one at the centre)

Loot Chests

The higher the tier, the better the loot. Loot can include weapons, armour and food, as well as sparks, orbs and utility items such as scaffold and cobwebs. The loot within each loot chest is randomised every game according to their tier, though their location within the map stays the same.

The last team standing wins the game, victorious over all others!

In Sky Battle, players earn Score in 2 main ways:
  • Surviving (Being alive when someone else dies)
  • Eliminating a player
You also get Score if your team survives while another team is eliminated.

The higher the Score you earn in game, the more you’re rewarded with Game Tokens and XP once the game is complete. You might even win some extra prizes, like Customisation Kits or Currency Pouches, if you play really well, but those items are for a future article.

Sky Battle Red House
Sky Battle Candy Land

We have 2 maps we’re planning to roll out during the MCCI beta period: 1 Event map: Candy Land and 1 Island exclusive map: Red House.

Upon launch, only teams of 4 players will be available for Sky Battle, but we hope to allow for different team sizes in the future - including solos!

And that’s Sky Battle! This is just the start; we plan to bring many more exciting features, maps and combat items to Sky Battle as we move forward, but for now, take to the skies and look out!

Nice!! I love the fact that it's 4 players, so you have to work together as a team. I wonder if the blocks will be infinite or will be drops/stacks in loot boxes as well? Looking forward to this.

I’m quite sad to see the crafting go as I’ve always thought that was quite a cool feature. On the contrary I do think the other additions with loot chests etc are a nice addition to the game mode to spice things up!
