It's the most wonderful time of the year, and it’s reached MCC Island!
Whatever and however you celebrate the winter season, you’ll find snow, surf and some festive magic on MCC Island during our Winter Event, starting with the hub!
The Hub gets a wintery makeover! ❄️
Jack Frost has worked his magic and turned the MCC Island Hub into a winter wonderland!
He’s covered the island in mountains of crisp white snow, fairy lights, candy canes, snow zombies and festive baubles to bring a little festive sparkle and brighten up the long winter nights.
He’s also left everyone a strange calendar filled with goodies!
The Winter Calendar! 🗓️
We’re counting down the days to December 25th with a calendar of rewards! Log in every day during the winter event and claim a reward from the Winter Calendar!
The Winter Calendar event will run from December 1st until the big day on December 25th, so be sure to log in every day to get every reward!
HITW: Medieval and Winter Maps 🧱 🎅
It’s not just the hub that got a sprinkling of festive magic!
After many, MANY hours of cleanup, we’ve managed to get the HITW Medieval castle walls back to their usual pristine condition after all that horrible slime invaded over Halloween, and it's now ready for the Island Army to invade!
Also, once MCC 28 has finished and the contestants have fallen asleep in front of the tv, we’ll be bringing over several of our festive maps from the event onto the island for you to enjoy!
We’ve got three new maps wrapped up, nice and special, 2 brand new courses for TGTTOS and the return of Santa’s Slay for Battle Box!
Leaderboards are coming to town! 🏅
While the wintery stuff will only last for the duration of the event, until January 4th, this update will also bring some changes that’ll be sticking around! Don’t think, just because everything’s all warm and festive, that it's time to take it easy and get cosy under a blanket!
The time of competition is upon us as Leaderboards make their long-awaited debut on MCC Island!
The leaderboards in each of the game lobbies will also come to life, showing off your stats and those of the players above and below you in the game’s overall rankings so you know who you need to beat and who you should be wary of, lest they take your place.
Not bothered about the overall leaderboards and just want to beat your friends? We’ve got you covered, you can filter leaderboards by your friends or by date, so you can check out where you stand today or over the whole month!
You may also see the addition of podiums in each game lobby - while these won’t be implemented just yet, you’ll soon find the top 3 players for each game standing proudly upon them!
Health Bar Revamp! ⚔️
New health bar, who dis?
To help make it clearer and easier to see how your friends and foes are doing in combat games, we’ve introduced a brand new health bar, not only showing off a player's health but way more information about any effect they’re under so you can better plan your strategy to combat them!
Absorption hearts and regeneration effects from items will be visible as golden or purple bars, allowing players to quickly assess if they hit the right person with that flying regeneration orb or if they just healed up the enemy team.
Also, when a player is below eight hearts of health, the number will appear in the health bar for added clarity, so you know just how close you were to killing them before you got destroyed by their teammates.
When and where you can see other players’ health bars has been altered too! You can now see your teammate's names and health bars from further away, allowing you to plan when to throw out that healing orb and when to hold back.
On the flip side, the range at which you can see your enemies’ names and health bar has decreased. To compensate for this, if you hit them from any range, their health bar with appear to you for 8 seconds and to your teammates for 4 seconds, allowing you to fight effectively at long range and give your team vital info on who to focus and who can be picked off later!
If this snazzy new system isn't for you and you want to stick with the old health bar system, you can always toggle the setting in your personal settings menu.
Team Chat 💬
Kick up your communication with the Team Chat Channel! Both Sky Battle and Battle Box now have a team chat channel where you can talk to your team and plan battle strategies without being in a party or letting to other side know your nefarious scheme!
You can switch to the channel using the /chat team command or enable it by default in your personal settings.
General Game Changes 🎮
There’s been a lot of festive flair and big changes, but not everything in this update needs all that winter sparkle. Here are some small stocking fillers that should help your Island ADVENTure go a little smoother.
- Rerolling a quest will now always give you a new quest that differs from the one you had before.
- The “range kills” quests now track correctly, and progress is only made if you perform a ranged kill.
- The blindness effect used in timed orbs of blindness now hides player names and health bars during the effect.
- When you complete a round, if the other matchup is still happening, you will begin spectating the other team’s round.
- Right-clicking a weapon e.g. sword, axe or bow will swap it with the leftmost version of that item in your hotbar.
That's all for now, see you on the Island!
